About Golf INC

Information

Formed in 1958, the Greater Oklahoma Links Federation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the improvement and promotion of amateur golf in the greater Oklahoma City area with an emphasis on junior golf.

GOLF, Inc. is funded almost wholly by our amateur golfers through membership fees.  In return, they receive their USGA/GHIN handicap and the right to participate in our tournament such as the Spring and Fall Fourballs and the City Amateur championships.

These membership funds help finance our scholarship programs along with our summer programs for juniors.

We are especially proud of our summer program for juniors.  It starts the first week of June and continues through July.

In recent years we have had from 460 to 900 youngsters take part.  The program includes four days of free days of free instruction from professionals at our five municipal courses - Lincoln Park, Lake Hefner, Trosper, Earlywine and Jimmy Stewart.

History

It was an idea fostered by Floyd Farley, a former golf professional and course designer, the late U.C. Ferguson, Jr., a long-time director of golf at Lincoln Park Golf Course, and the late Wally Wallis, a golf writer for The Daily Oklahoman.

In 1993, Golf Digest cited our program and GOLF Inc, as the No. 1 municipality in the United States for its promotion of amateur and its junior program.
